Single drama. Beginning of arranged marriages.

We have started looking at the second part to our piece now which is "arranged marriage" In an arranged marriage, while the meeting of the spouses is arranged by family members, relatives or friends, the spouses agree of their own free will to marry. By contrast, in a forced marriage, one or both spouses are coerced into the marriage - the union takes place without their freely given consent (under duress, threats, psychological pressure 

Arranged marriage  is a type of marital union where the bride and groom are selected by a third party rather than by each other.

I decided to go for the role of the dad who is giving his daughter away. I want the character to show truthfully how forceful the parents can be in these sorts of situations. For example if the son or daughter refuses to marry the third party decided bride or groom, they will be forever dishonoured from their families, many have tried to flee their parents by moving away. But this is extremely dangerous because they would automatically have to change who they were and their lifestyles 

When the parents decide who they feel suits their son or daughter they usually look at the other families; wealth, land, general status.
